When to go? Perhaps you should fly to Turks and Caicos when you're ready to go deep, as these island waters are home to world-famous coral reefs. Trips to the Turks and Caicos Islands peak in typical Caribbean time: December through April. Otherwise, hurricanes are frequent visitors here, so check the forecast before booking your trip between June and November.

Where to stay? Picture 12 long miles of Caribbean beach: in Turks and Caicos, they call it Grace Bay. On Providenciales (aka Provo), Grace Bay boasts the largest selection of hotels and condos in the islands. There are plenty of all-inclusive resorts and resort-spas also in Provo, while Grand Turk offers more hotels and inns.

What to do? Come prepared to dive - or ready to get certified - so you can experience the exquisite life aquatic. For those who aren't ready to take the plunge, snorkeling is an excellent alternative. Island hop to Salt Cay or North, East, West, Middle or South Caicos; there, you just might find a secluded Caribbean cove to briefly call your own. After all, aren't vacations all about those picture perfect moments you carry home?
