Kenya is a well-loved tourist destination due to its broad diversity of wildlife habitat, panoramic landscapes, and tribal cultures. Located in East Africa, the country rises in the east from the beaches along the Indian Ocean towards the central grasslands famous for wildlife viewing and the fertile highlands where coffee plantations abound. In the center of the country lies Mount Kenya, a very significant landmark and the second highest mountain peak of Africa. Kenya has considerable land area of wildlife habitat, the most notable being the Masai Mara, where more than a million wildebeest participate in the annual migration each spring in search of water. The Big Five animals of Africa can also be found in Kenya: the lion, leopard, buffalo, rhinoceros and elephant. A significant population of other wild animals, reptiles and birds can be found in the national parks and game reserves in the country.
