Zakynthos is a Greek island and the third largest island in the Ionian Sea. The island is first mentioned by the Greek poet and writer Homer in his masterpieces the Iliad and the Odyssey. The island is also known as the birth place of Dionysios Solomos, the poet who wrote the Greek national anthem.
