Williamsburg Virginia Vacation Travel |

|
When to go? Visiting historic Williamsburg in the spring or fall is ideal. Summer's heat and humidity can take the fun out of the vacation, and winter is often overcast and rainy, and some of the attractions are closed entirely for winter. That said, hotels book early for the holidays as the historic part of town goes all-out with the decorations and enchantment.

Where to stay? The question is whether or not to stay in the colonial Williamsburg area or not. Hotels in the historic district emulate yesteryear in architecture and decor, but don't skimp on modern conveniences. Just outside Williamsburg you can find resorts and spas that cater to kids and honeymooners alike. And don't forget Busch Gardens down the road!

What to do? Arrive into Williamsburg the night before so that you can get an early start to avoid the crowds. In the morning, head straight to the historic area, known as Colonial Williamsburg. Tickets are needed for many of the attractions, however you can stroll the streets for free. Take a guided tour to maximize your time. Most of the stores and museums close at 5 PM, and without the intense crowds, an evening walk is quite charming.
