When to go? Visit Tuscany in the spring or autumn if you can. The weather is generally pleasant and the tourist attractions are less crowded. The fall is further highlighted by the colorful grape harvest and the smell of roasting chestnuts. If you do not mind summer crowds, the Palio di Siena, the most colorful spectacle, is held in the center of Sienna every year on July 2 and August 16. In August, Italians go on vacation, leaving many restaurants and shops closed, while beaches and island resorts are packed. Be aware, many museums and historical sights have restricted hours or close for restoration during the winter months. Current Internet Travel Offers for Tuscany Italy...

Where to stay? In the larger towns, such as Florence and Sienna, it makes sense to find a hotel or vacation rental apartment within walking distance of the major attractions. However, for touring the rest of Tuscany, consider staying in the countryside at a private farmhouse or vineyard estates. Many country property owners now supplement their income with tourist accommodations in a new trend known as agritourism. It is a great way to experience the Tuscan lifestyle at a moderate price. What to do? You are not alone if you are interested in art and history, so to avoid long lines, be sure to purchase tickets for major museums in advance. Use the time saved to savor a classic 5 course Italian lunch. To see another side of Tuscany, grab a map of the Chianti Classico vineyard district and tour wineries. Or, if you have a little more time, register for a cooking class at a country estate. One of the most famous Tuscan estates, Badia a Coltibuono, has it all; tourist lodging, winery, vineyards and cooking school. Current Internet Travel Offers for Tuscany Italy...
