Florida Atlantic Coast Vacation Travel

When to go? Endless sandy beaches and perpetual warm weather make the Atlantic Coast of Florida an ideal vacation destination all year. That said, summer is hot and humid, and anywhere inland without the ocean breeze can be unbearable. Couple this with hurricane season (June through November), and the best time to be in Florida quickly becomes any time except the height of summer.

Where to stay? Gold Coast? Treasure Coast? Miami area? It all depends on your interests. The entire coast is full of great golf and beaches, but if it's nightlife you're after, head to Miami. Too fast paced? Try St. Augustine for a dose of history. The family-friendly atmosphere of Florida is interrupted by Spring Break, particularly in Daytona Beach, when thousands of university students descend on the beach to party.

What to do? Immerse yourself in US colonial history in St. Augustine, Rumble through Daytona Beach during Bike Week or the Daytona 500, soak up the sun from the beaches of Ft. Lauderdale, or lounge in the chic clubs of Miami's South Beach - whatever type of vacation you prefer, bring your sun block. You can get burned when and where you least expect it.
