Colorado Rocky Mountain Vacation Travel

When to go? Colorado's mountain resorts have two busy seasons: December through March for snow sports and June through August for everything else. The spring and fall seasons can be truly delightful, with far fewer crowds; however the weather can go any direction, making it harder to plan outdoor activities. If you time it right, Colorado's aspen groves turn brilliant gold in the Fall in a short but unforgettable spectacle.

Where to stay? Aspen, Breckenridge, Telluride, Steamboat Springs, and Crested Butte are rooted in historic western mining towns, evolved into word class luxury resorts. Their authenticity permeates the air. Vail / Beaver Creek, on the other hand, is a newer master plan development in a Tyrolean Alps motif. What it lacks in true authenticity, is at least partially overcome by a pedestrian-only central village area that really can make you feel like you're strolling through a fairytale.

What to do? Colorado's rocky mountain resort destinations sponsor a growing variety of special events, from winter ski events, summer concerts, film festivals, wine festivals, and so on. Whether or not you are interested in these events, it is a good idea to check the calendar on the visitors bureau web site before you go.
