When to go? Branson is full of action from mid April through mid November. Sweltering heat in July and August can be punishing along the "The Strip," but nearby lake recreation areas and water theme parks make the summer heat much more bearable. Some venues close January through March.

Where to stay? Hotels and motels situated along Branson's "76 Strip" put you in the middle of the entertainment action; however the traffic on this seven-mile section of roadway can be painstakingly slow. Look for lodging with direct access to the "back roads" that parallel the Strip. For quieter alternatives, try a resort at Table Rock Lake.

What to do? The Branson "Strip" is a taste of Americana on steroids! With more than 50 live-performance venues, novelty museums, theme parks and shopping malls, you could spend weeks doing the Strip alone. Not to be overlooked though are the outdoor recreational opportunities beyond the Strip - boat and train excursions, cave tours, hiking trails and much more.
